The driver of the SUV that caused a train derailment in Swanton back on June 6th has been identified. It was announced that 25-year-old Logan Guess of Delta was the culprit.
Investigators report that Guess abandoned her vehicle after it became stuck on the railroad tracks on Main Street, just north of U.S. 20A. It was later hit by a Norfolk Southern train which led to the derailment of 15 train cars and damage to five nearby passenger vehicles. Fortunately no injuries were occurred.
The accident caused a power outage, affecting more than 4,000 customers. No charges have been filed against Guess, but the investigation is still on-going.
