A South Bend man was arrested Sunday on numerous charges after allegedly driving 106 miles per hour on the Indiana Toll Road.
Around 10:42 a.m. yesterday, February 3, 2019, Trooper Tim McCormick and Trooper Nathan Littlefield stopped a gray 2008 BMW for driving 106 miles per hour on the Indiana Toll Road near the 71 mile marker, eastbound. This is just west of exit 72 for South Bend.
While McCormick and Littlefield were talking to the driver of the BMW, identified as Ricardo Wilson, 41 of South Bend, IN, they purportedly smelled the odor of raw marijuana. During a subsequent search of the BMW, troopers only found marijuana residue. Wilson was arrested at the scene for preliminary charges of Reckless Driving and Driving While Suspended and and transported to the St. Joseph County Jail.
McCormick and Littlefield reportedly continued to smell a strong odor of marijuana while transporting Wilson. Further investigation at the St. Joseph County Jail revealed that Wilson was allegedly hiding a plastic bag of marijuana on his person and was also intoxicated. Wilson was ultimately jailed with additional preliminary charges of Operating While Intoxicated, Operating While Intoxicated-Endangerment and Possession of Marijuana.
